Vargo was founded by Brian Vargo, a free-spirited outdoor man who realized the need for lighter hiking and backpacking gear during his hike in the Appalachian Trail. With his vast knowledge and experience, he received a lot of requests for tips on how to pack lightly for hiking and backpacking trips. To address this, he launched his own website to share his know-how to everyone - from what to pack to have a lighter load, to how to plan a perfect, hassle-free camping trip.  

In 2002, with the boom of internet usage and with his website receiving a lot internet traffic, Brian Vargo decided to take advantage of this opportunity and converted his website to an online shop that sells backpacking gear, outdoor apparel, and climbing equipment.  Soon after, Vargo noticed a gap in the supply of titanium stakes in the market. He decided to manufacture and distribute their very own product, giving birth to the first Vargo product, the Vargo titanium tent stakes. Making the most of titanium’s inherent properties - lightweight, strong, and corrosion-resistant - combined with his goal of making your pack lighter, Vargo has expanded its product line to include titanium campware, backpacking stoves, pots, mugs, water bottles, foldable wood stoves, and lifestyle items.  

Today, based in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Vargo offers a wide array of titanium outdoor gear with unique designs and features for camping, mountain climbing, hiking, military, tactical, and survival purposes.
