Right-handed hook knife with a left-ground edge
The 55 mm blade on the Hook Knife 164 Right Hand (S) features a tight curve and left-ground edge, making it ideal for deep carving tasks when held in your right hand. The full rat-tail tang and recycled stainless steel blade offer strength, stability, and edge retention. The oiled Scandinavian birch handle is shaped for comfort, and the knife comes with a premium vegetable-tanned leather sheath made in Sweden.
Tight curvature for deep hollowing
The tight blade curve is designed for carving deep hollows in spoons, scoops, and bowls. The edge glides smoothly across the inner surface without catching or digging. Since this is a right-handed knife with a left-ground edge, it’s meant to be pulled toward you when held in the right hand. The back of the blade is unsharpened, allowing you to guide it with your left-hand fingers for added pressure and control. The shaped birch handle fits comfortably in your hand, no matter your grip or technique – and can be reshaped for a more tailored fit.
Swedish stainless steel for durability and sharpness
The 2 mm thick blade is made from recycled Swedish stainless steel (12C27), with a recycled content of over 80%. This stainless steel is tough, sharp, and low maintenance. After heat treatment in the Mora factory, the blade reaches a hardness of 56.5 HRC. The edge is then ground on the left side only, optimized for controlled right-hand carving. Each knife is hand-assembled in Sweden, backed by more than a century of Morakniv craftsmanship.
