The Stretch 2 Lightweight is a highly evolved folder optimized for processing game in the field. The product of decades of relentless refinement, its roots reach all the way back to 1983 and Spyderco's C03 Hunter™ model. This limited-edition Sprint Run™ of the Stretch 2 Lightweight combines all the time-tested features of this design with a three-layer laminated blade crafted from V-Toku2 and SUS410 steels.
The high-performance cutting edge of this knife’s blade relies on a central core of V-Toku2—a Japanese tool steel made with Swedish iron ore and enriched with tungsten, vanadium, and chromium. Renowned for its toughness at high hardness, the V-Toku2 center layer is flanked by outer layers of SUS410, a martensitic stainless steel that enhances the blade’s strength and provides it with a somewhat greater degree of corrosion resistance. This unique layered construction is evident when the full-flat-ground blade is examined closely, as the transition between the core and outer layers is clearly visible just above the cutting edge.
All other elements of this unique knife are consistent with the defining features of the Stretch 2 Lightweight, including skeletonized stainless steel liners, an injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle, Bi-Directional Texturing™, an index-finger choil (finger groove), a sturdy back lock mechanism, and a four-position pocket clip. Its FRN handle also proudly showcases the signature blue-gray color of Spyderco’s elite V-Toku2 family of Sprint Runs.
