Budget SOG

This knife reminds me of at least two SOG fixed blade knives that I really like the design of. . . the seal pup and the 1st gen kiku fixed blade. With an AUS-8 blade and G10 scales, it might as well be! Either because of that copycat aspect, or just my fascination for this type of tactical utility knife design, I decided I would get this for a good looking knife I can thump around on. Out of the box it's not that sharp, but I have a few recurves and compound grind knives, so fixing and maintaining this type of edge is not a big deal for me.

Quality wise, aside from the initial sharpness, the fit and finish is quite excellent. I am particular how the scales and knife tang align and if there are rough unfinished edges, and this knife is really up there with the other quality standards of other higher tier brands. The sharpening choil as well I found to be well done, it terminates just in front of the ricasso where the edge grind begins, so you could really sharpen back to the very heel. The black oxide finish reminds me of TiNi, but we'll see how it holds up.

The sheath if nice and snug as well. Doesn't seem the rub on the edge. I'm half and half about the sheath's pocket waistband clip. On one hand it"s easy to tuck into shorts or pants for around the house or yard chores, but I think I prefer some ulticlips on these.
