Transaction. It was very fast. I could round it off to a three day-transaction but to be precise it's probably less than 72 hours. The product only travelled less than 24hrs from the courier to my doorstep. I appreciate that because the longer it's with the courier, the more risk the product will have to endure.
Ontario Rat 1. An absolute beater. It's bigger than your usual EDC knife but it's not that big to be too intimidating or bulky in your pocket. I would say it's a discreet EDC plus knife. You still have that EDC vibe in your pocket but with added performance.
Looking at the knife fresh out the box, you'd know it was well built (apparently too well). If I am to say something bad about this knife it would probably be about the deployment. It was tough as a nut. If I hadn't know better, I would think it's welded shut. All of the screws are so tight especially the ones in the pivot. It was a minor problem. I only had to loosen it a bit and add some oil. Still, I think there's another stock with better deployment.
Opening the blade, it's straight like an arrow. No movement in any direction even when wiggling it with force (probably because of those tight screws). Also very sharp, it successfully cut paper (without sharpening, fresh out of the box).
Liner Lock. In my opinion is too aggressive. I wouldn't change it though. The liner lock is so tough it's hard to deploy or fold it. But the advantage of that is I won't be scared with the knife slipping and opening inside my pocket or the lock failing when I'm using then knife causing my fingers to be cut.
Handle and pocket clip. I think the handle material is Zytel or FRN. Not so sure. Not to grippy but that's fine. It feels good in the hand especially with that groove and jimping. You can also change then pocket clip into all four positions, so that's a plus.
Overall. If you're looking for a knife that's made to be a real functional tool rather than a Tacti-cool, this is the knife for you. It's built like a tank, simple design (also easy to take apart and clean), and cost efficient. This will be in my pocket as EDC for a long time.
Thank you, Tactical Asia!
