Cold Steel Outdoorsman Lite is the more affordable version of Cold Steel’s enormously popular Tanto and Outdoorsman knives. The Outdoorsman Lite features a 4116 bladesteel and more economical handle materials, the blades, guards, handles, and pommels are similar to its more expensive counterpart. The handle is made of polypropylene guard, pommel, and core section, then overmolded with a deep-checkered Kray-Ex™ for a non-slip grip. For safety and convenience, it comes with a pouch style Cor-Ex Sheath with belt loop.

First buy Experience

The knife is good and the delivery is fast. The blade sharpness is good but the blade at the back is disappointing. Like it's been used to test the blade. Hope they don't do that since it leave a mark that it has been used

Serviceable knife

Fast delivery and great customer service from TA.

For the price range, the Outdoorsman Lite has good fit and finish. Didn’t notice any gaps in the construction or hotspots in the grip on my unit. The knife came paper slicing sharp, and it locks into the sheath with good retention and no rattle. Now onto the limitations. 4034SS is a pretty basic stainless steel that I wouldn’t subject to anything crazy. I’d only use this knife for quick food prep and light house chores. For stuff like chopping and batoning, I’d pick a more robust knife. I also would’ve preferred a sheath that exposed more of the handle and had a thumb ramp, but that’s what the aftermarket is for. Not my favorite sheath, but it works.

All in all, a solid knife as long as you keep its limitations in mind. Right tool for the right job.
