This Kershaw–Emerson now comes with D2 blade steel. D2, a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel, is a knifemaker favorite and offers good edge retention and hardness, as well as being more corrosion resistant that other high-carbon steels. The CQC-6K D2 features a modified clip-point blade for versatile cutting ability. The handle's front scale of textured G10 offers a secure grip and the handle's stainless steel back has a solid frame lock. The CQC-6K D2 is a manual opener using either the thumb disk or the patented Emerson Wave Shaped Feature®.

Love the Wave!

Quick deployment using the Emerson wave feature is the best! The thumb disk is not as nimble to use compared to stud or hole. On the heavy side compared to my other folders, but still a great purchase.

Can't resist playing with it every few minutes

Came out of the box razor-sharp. I tested it on my arm and it shaved so smoothly I could probably shave my face with it - though I obviously wouldn't do that. The frame lock is as sturdy as I hoped it would be. Opening and closing it with the thumb disk took more effort than I expected for the first several times, but a little oil and WD40 took care of that. It's heavier than my Cold Steel Secret Edge but so compact and thin it is almost unnoticeable in my pocket if not for the protruding butt and pocket clip - but I usually wear my shirts untucked so it's not a problem for me. Quick-deploy using the Emerson wave is easy, but practice is necessary for safety. The danger of using the quick deploy is if the knife fails to fully open and engage the lock. This is remedied by practicing drawing in a smooth committed motion. Halfhearted draws easily result in a half opened knife so if you want to use the quick deploy method safely especially in an emergency you better practice, practice, practice.

Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.
