The War Hawk has a good heft to it, and fantastic balance. It feels very comfortable to switch between the choke hold for close quarter offense and the midshaft hold for heavy swings. The spike is not deathly sharp, as it is intended mainly as a breaching tool on the axe. But while it's primary purpose is to break down doors or car windows, it can be used effectively for offense as well. Paired with a strong torch, the War Hawk is a much better tool for home defense than a baseball bat, and will also serve well for emergencies. A highly recommended product by an excellent seller.

Initially wrote a 4-Star Review on this product as the heft, balance & choke grip on the War Hawk was just exceptional. Unfortunately, upon closer examination of the damaged part the next day, realized that the Axe Head & not the Handle was damaged. Worse, it was the bolt plate, which raises concern on product safety. Looked like someone poked a hole on the bolt plate. Either was originally damaged from store or through shipment (coz the product had weak packaging & was just taped together with another axe, which also arrived damaged & rusty). A distressing, hazardous, & disappointing purchase.

A good intro for someone getting into tomahawks. Love the nifty sheath.

Probably best to get a spare handle, just in case the polypropylene handle breaks.
