 The Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel is the reinvention of the classic Soviet Spetznaz shovel used by the Spetznaz soldiers, the most elite unit of the Soviet Army that is equivalent to the US Green Berets.  It is named after the Spetznaz which literally means “special purpose forces”. Engineered for rugged use, the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel’s blade and socket are forged from medium carbon steel that has been heat treated to ensure maximum strength and durability.  It has a hardwood handle, and the black-coated carbon steel shovel arrives sharpened to an axe-like edge that can be honed further.
