The Roach Belly is a fixed-blade knife steeped in history. It was very popular in the 17th century Britain and the American colonies because it is inexpensive, very effective, and versatile. It owes its name to the common Roach fish, which also has a curving belly.

Cold Steel’s modern version retains the knife’s original profile but incorporated the latest technology in knife making. For example, the fine, sharp-edged blade is made of German 4116 Stainless then heat-treated to RC 56-57. Instead of the classic wooden handle that cracks and rots, Cold Steel used Polypropylene, which is very resistant to the elements. The black handle has a lanyard hole and the knife may be worn as a neck knife. The Cold Steel Roach Belly comes with its own black, Secure-Ex® Sheath.

nice

i use the knife as a camp/kitchen/backpack knife. edge retention is not so great but it sure is quite a joy to sharpen. it very easy easily returns to razor sharpness with a few strokes on the sharpmaker. works great in food prep and ergos are just right for me. i recommend this product. thanks again TA for the excellent service.
